By default most smartphones and tablets have to jump through a few hoops in order to view the desktop version of Facebook’s website on their mobile browsers. In contrast to the mobile view, the full version of Facebook’s site gives you access to all platform features and settings, including those that cannot be ordinarily accessed on a mobile device. Here are a couple of ways of getting to Facebook’s full site while using an iPhone or iPad.
Option One: Request Facebook’s Desktop Site From Safari
In this method we’ll use Safari to request the desktop version of the Facebook website. Note that you have to be running iOS 8 to take advantage of this hidden feature!
1. Launch Safari.
2. To go facebook.com. You should be taken to the mobile version of the site.
3. Tap on the address bar to reveal your Bookmarks.
4. Scroll up to reveal two hidden options at the top.
5. Tap on “Request Desktop Site”.
6. The page should automatically reload and you should be greeted by the full Facebook site!
Tip: Many 3rd party web browsers like Chrome and Opera have similar features that enable you to request the desktop versions of sites you visit.
Option Two: Request Facebook’s Desktop Site From Facebook Itself
This method is best if you’re using a different iOS web browser since it will work on pretty much everything.
1. Launch Safari or any alternative web browser.
2. To go facebook.com. You should be taken to the mobile version of the site.
3. Enter your credentials and log into the site.
4. Tap on the “hamburger” menu button on the top right.
5. Scroll down to the end of the list.
6. Tap the “Desktop Site” link.
7. The desktop version of Facebook should appear automatically.
